The Artworks I Saved From My Childhood

When I moved to the United States, I brought my childhood paintings with me, and two of them are still with me today.

One is a painting of a lady in a costume, which I did when I was in fourth grade.

At the time, my father bought a book with pictures of people in traditional clothing from all over the world.

I was completely fascinated by it.

The painting is done with tempera paint, and I used a magic marker to trace the outlines.

The other painting is one I did when I was 13, in secondary school.

It’s also inspired by that same book and features five different characters.

I love showing these artworks to my own children and telling them the story behind each one.

They get to see how their mother’s childhood hobby became a business.

You see that even back then, I was drawn to painting people.

And now, all these years later, I’m painting the national flowers of the world and diving into the immigrant stories that go with them.

It’s beautiful how God’s plan works.

Stay kreatif,

Siti
