I built My Own Art Gallery at Home

I was completely fascinated by the idea of creating an art gallery right here at home.

I could arrange my paintings exactly how I wanted.

More importantly, instead of waiting for an invitation to exhibit my art, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

At this point, I had moved into a three-bedroom house with plenty of space for my pastel portrait paintings.

I decided one day to put up all my framed paintings.

I already had a framer I liked, and whenever a piece was complete, I would take it to them to be perfectly framed.

My core goal was to be a professional portrait artist who successfully combined my fine art skills with my secretarial skills, demonstrating both creativity and professionalism.

This was a challenge, especially in the early 2000s, because I couldn’t find a role model.

When I spoke to my artist friends, they didn’t understand marketing or business.

But when I talked to my friends from marketing class, they didn’t understand the creative process.

So, I set out to build this attractive character myself: an artist who was also professional.

I looked at the blank walls in my house and realized I didn’t need to wait; I could create my own gallery.

This idea was developed entirely on my own, without social media to show me what other artists were doing.

The pictures you see here show my workspace filled with portraits and some works in progress waiting to be completed.

Stop waiting for permission and start inventing the path forward for your own creative vision.

Stay kreatif,

Siti
