The Radio Shout-Out That Made My Day

Although I love to draw and paint, I couldn’t spend a lot of time on it.

As the eldest daughter and a school prefect, I had a lot of responsibility, and I always had to study hard to maintain good grades.

When it came to big exams, I definitely had to put drawing aside.

But when you love something, you get carried away with it, and as a student, I just couldn’t do that.

So, I would wait for the school holidays, especially at the end of the year.

That was my time to really dive in and spend hours drawing and painting.

I realize now that I was doing a “daily drawing series” even back then!

My parents saw the talent in me, and they even encouraged me to send my drawings to the radio station.

I didn’t know what they were thinking, but I thought it was a fun idea.

I drew a portrait sketch of my favorite singer at the time and sent it to the English radio station.

Guess what?

The singer announced my name on air and read my letter!!!

It was indeed a very memorable time for me.

Do you have a childhood memory that reminds you of a passion you still have now?

Stay kreatif,
