What was your childhood ambition?
When I was seven, I wanted to be an archaeologist.
I knew nothing about finding artifacts or historical places, but the idea just fascinated me.
My dream changed when I was about 15.
I decided I wanted to become a lawyer.
They said that to major in law, you had to be good at history, geography, and languages like Malay and English.
But most importantly, you had to be strong in history.
I loved history.
I could remember all the dates!
I focused on school and worked hard to get good grades so I could apply for a law course at the university.
I was eventually called for a group interview with other applicants.
The interviewers wanted to see our ability to talk about a given topic.
Being an introverted person didn’t help me much.
As a result, I didn’t get a placement.
I was devastated when I heard the news.
My parents tried to console me, telling me they didn’t want me to become a lawyer anyway.
Although I was very disappointed at the time, looking back, I’m glad I didn’t follow that path.
It’s clear now that God was preparing me for more exciting events in my life.
Have you ever had a disappointment turn out to be a blessing in disguise?
