Welcome December

I’m welcoming December with enthusiasm, joy, and hope. It is officially my favorite month, not only because of the long holidays but, most importantly, because of my birthday and wedding anniversary.

But before I get into that, I’ve been working tirelessly on my project, the World’s National Flowers, since January. I am incredibly grateful that I’m able to dedicate myself to this meaningful project, which I hope will help people all over the world learn about their nations’ national flowers.

I plan to slow down a little and truly enjoy these special days with my beloved family. I definitely need a well-deserved break!

While I’m slowing down, I’m also planning some exciting things for the new year, including the new video format! But blogging? I proposed the idea to my husband (semi-serious) and today, he showed me what he has been working on a few days ago. Wow! Thanks, hubby! It’s truly a wonderful surprise.

Why “Stay K-R-E-A-T-I-F with Siti”?

For almost a decade, I’ve used this phrase to sign off on everything—my newsletters and my videos. It’s my goal to help my subscribers and viewers to stay creative, because creativity is for everyone. Whether you are an artist like me, a brilliant cook, an interior designer, or a fashion lover, you use unique creativity in everything you do. It’s a reminder to use your creativity to make every task exciting.

I want to tell a story that tickled me about the spelling of the word kreatif. A few years ago, I was coaching a group of students the basic Quran from my home. One of them pointed out that I spelled creative as K-R-E-A-T-I-F, telling me it was wrong and should be C-R-E-A-T-I-V-E. I told them I did that on purpose!

I spell it K-R-E-A-T-I-F because that is how we spell it in Malay, my native language. It’s a deliberate blend of English and Malay in the phrase, and it’s a way to be different. Whenever I remember that conversation, it puts a smile on my face every time.

Birthday and Wedding Anniversary

My birthday was special, not because I’m getting older and wiser, but because I got to celebrate it with my beloved husband, my two hardworking sons, and my mom in-law. Everyone made me feel so loved and I’m truly thankful to Allah for the life He blessed me with. I only want to do better as a wife, mother, and daughter in-law to them.

This year, my husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. What a beautiful journey we both had gone through together – from Malaysia to the United States! I pray that Allah blesses our marriage till Paradise.

What are you celebrating this month? Let me know in the comments so I can cheer you on.
